The Intuitive Side of Networking

Networking is the lifeblood of any relationship. Networking is building relationships

Focus on your business, whether it is you the entrepreneur/owner, sales person, customer service or part of the staff for a company. You are always networking.

Focus on understanding the nature of your customer. When I was involved in Total Quality management (TQM) a lot of time was focused on the customer. Your relationship is always with your customer. Who is your customer? How do you look at your customer? What do you believe about your customer? What do you believe about yourself?

Do you realize that your customer is every individual you connect with in your work? Do you realize that your customer is everyone around you? Not just the person you approach to sell your services or the person who walks in to purchase a product, but your co-workers, people around you when you are buying your groceries, postage stamps, gasoline, cocktails and flowers. You are literally in a relationship (networking) with every person around you. You are in this relationship whether you are aware of it or not.

Focus on your intuitive side. Open the awareness of yourself interacting with those around you. Be aware that every time you present yourself to the world, you are noticed.

When I go into a business, I sense all the staff, and intuitively know the person I will relate best to. They are presenting/radiating some sense that ‘here is a person I want to do business with’, ‘they will be honest with me’, ‘they will be my friend”. How many times have you gone into a business and had that reaction? Or have you had the opposite reaction? You intuitively know that you do not want to do business with this person or company. You turn around and leave.

And here is where I repeat my mantra “You change the way you look at things, and the things you look at change.” Change the way you look at yourself, your relationships, and your ‘customers’. Understand you are always networking and building those relationships. You will see your business, your work and your life with a whole new perspective.
